All OC Golfers,
Following a most enjoyable Spring Meeting at Hadley Wood GC, I now want to update you with the full OCGS meeting schedule for this year, to which I hope to add a short Norfolk tour in November. The confirmed dates and venues are as follows:-
Summer Meeting - Monday 10th July 2023 - Woking Golf Club
This is a great golf course, currently ranked 18th in the England Top 100 and the first established, in 1893, of the three Surrey "Ws" with Wentworth & Worplesdon. It has been described as a jewel and is the oldest of the Surrey heathland golf courses. We will be teeing off playing 2-balls from 9.28am so an early arrival no later than 8.45am for coffee and bacon rolls is recommended. We will be playing for the Spice Bowl (Scratch, current holder Louis Taylor) and the John Carpenter Challenge Cup (Handicap, current holder Giles Stockton), both very fine old trophies, in the morning followed by a 2-course carvery lunch. After lunch, an additional 18 holes of foursomes have been arranged for those of youthful stamina with tee times from 2.32pm. The cost for the day, including coffee, bacon rolls and a carvery lunch is £150 per person for 36 holes or £135 for 18 holes. Please do let me know via email at this stage if you intend to play in this meeting. You are also most welcome to bring a guest if you wish.

Autumn Meeting – Tuesday 10th October 2023 – Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, Deal
The home course of the magnificent Halford Hewitt competition, this is a fantastic time of the year to play this great course, currently ranked 11th in the England Top 100 and I am delighted to have been able to secure this date again for 2023. The plan is to meet up at 12 noon for drinks and a light lunch followed by 18 holes with tee times from 1.04pmonwards. The golf green fees will be only £100 per head, considerably below the normal guest fee, with a reduced £40 for RCPD Public Schools members. There will be a limit on numbers for this event so do send me an email if you wish to play followed by paying a minimum £50 deposit (the full amount is always preferred) early in order to avoid disappointment! We need to confirm final numbers for this meeting with RCPD well in advance. You are also most welcome to bring a guest if you wish although priority will be given to Old Citizens.

For those still in full time education the society is happy to subsidise the cost so please email or phone me for details. We extend a warm welcome to all the more recent school leavers including those who may have played in matches against the Old Cits and Masters. I look forward to hearing from you all as soon as possible.
