2009

Matches with Bourne End CC are usually closely contested, but this year they were hammered. They were all out for only 26!  Mike Knight 7 overs 2 maidens 16 runs 6 wickets. James Gleadow 7 overs 2 maidens 9 runs 2 wickets. Gaj Srikanthan took a wicket with his only delivery.

Phil Sharnock raises the Mercers Cup at the dinner, but it was really Michael Shannon that won it this time (for season 2008). However, Phil could at least claim fame as a past winner. The left handed batsman won it in 1972.

Jo Spencer, with our President, PEG Sawell, the club’s highest ever wicket taker. Brother Tony, padded up, with Junky and Bill complete the line up.

Captain Birdseed, hands on head, led us to a three wicket win at Essendon. The captain took 4 – 34, Shannon 3 – 11, and James 3 – 27. Allan opened the batting and was there at the end with 43 not out to his name. Bill and James display the front and back of our first shirts with squad numbers.

Trevor Brooks at Essendon sees the funny side of something. In playing day he took over 400 wickets, mostly for the second eleven, when we ran three sides.

Birdseed Millett had a good day taking 5 – 34 and then scoring 63 runs with the bat, including putting on 75 for the eighth wicket with Tony Sawell.

Saeed Hatteea; prior to hitting 77 not out to take us to a win over old rivals Southgate, on Bank Holiday Monday. Southgate’s young star leg break bowler found that Sid could drive equally well off the back as the front foot.

Len Stokes played his last playing seasons at Southgate CC, but had previously been an OCCC regular batsman and left arm spin bowler. Never short of confidence, he was known as Motormouth. His non playing career was an interesting one, providing many good OC stories. Last seen on television, he seemed to be running some sort dating company in the Far East.

The School was represented by the Headmaster and the Captain of School Cricket, Jack Kelly. Bruce stands up in front of a painting of famous cricketers. Sitting on his left are famous OCCC cricketers, John Petzold and Geoff Bates.

2005

A Sunday in July saw us re-uniting with OCs cricketers Olly Gibbs and Justin Evans, who played for us against Shepherds Bush, the side they usually play for. Olly hit 84 out of our total of 227 for 6 declared. Olly, Justin, and Jo Spencer are pictured.

The Ivanhoe match finishes with a win for us, Junky took 4 – 14 and Mo got 3 – 45. Allan takes a well earned drink, after scoring 50 not out.

In August we had a high scoring drawn game with Sky CC.  John and Andy are in the picture, but it was Mike Knight and Richard Millett who got us off to a good start, putting on 107 for the first wicket.
