Fausto left CLS in 1991 to study civil engineering at Southampton University and later became a postgraduate in environmental engineering at Imperial College. In 2000, he moved across from engineering to humanitarian aid, initially as a temporary placement supported by his engineering firm, to establish rural water and sanitation systems in rural Guatemala. He subsequently remained in the humanitarian system, undertaking a masters degree in International Humanitarian Action and working for the European Commission’s humanitarian department, as well as the United Nations and a range of NGOs. He recently completed another masters degree in Religion in Peace and Conflict at Uppsala University.
