The John Carpenter Club, the alumni association of City of London School, has published the latest edition of its Gazette magazine.
As a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen, the front cover is dedicated to Her Majesty and on the back cover Old Citizen Air Marshall Sir David Walker (CLS 1967-74, President JCC 2011-2012) who was the Queen's former Equerry (1989-1992) and Master of the Royal Household (2005-2013), shares his recollections of working with Her Majesty.
Inside the magazine, the John Carpenter Club launches an appeal for host firms to provide work shadowing for younger alumni. The JCC, in partnership with City of London School’s Alumni Engagement Team, is piloting an internship scheme, aimed at providing work experience opportunities for younger alumni.
Old Citizens can also read about all of the JCC's alumni sports club activities, the reunions and events that have taken place over the year, the obituaries of those OCs and former City of London School teachers who have sadly passed away, and highlights from the school year.
There are interviews with Old Citizens Christian Plowman (1991 leaver) - a former Met Police detective who now works combatting criminal gangs trafficking wildlife in Africa, James Chance (2007 leaver) - a technology entrepreneur, and Marcus Congdon Smith (1998 leaver) - an Easyjet Pilot. All interviews were conducted by City of London School's Alumni team. Meanwhile, recent John Carpenter Club President, Russell Jones, gives his opinion on climate change action.
