OCCC vs Orsett - 1st August 2009

After Melrose cried off we had a conference fixture in Basildon against Orsett CC. Mike Knight and I opened the batting against a team made up mainly of very young colts, and put on 140 for the first wicket before Mike was dismissed for 53. Fahad joined me, and runs continued to flow freely before I was run out for the first time ever (OK maybe not, and it wasn't my fault!) for 91. Fahad and Steve then plundered quick runs finishing unbeaten on 85 and 53 respectively. We felt a little sorry for scoring so heavily against youngsters, but they bowled and fielded gamely, and we had little doubt that we would lose a return fixture in 5 years time. After tea, the rain started coming down increasingly heavily, and after braving it in the field for 6 overs we called it a day.
