OCCC vs Bourne End- 29th August 2009

On Saturday we played Bourne End on their sloping ground and they scored 207 for 2 declared. We didn't bowl or field as badly as that score suggests although we struggled to cope with the slope when bowling from the field end. Will Sheldon and Richard Millett were the wicket takers.Their talented number 3 scored about 80. We got off to a terrible start due to good bowling and poor shot selection and had lost 4 wickets by the end of the 6th over. An ironic cheer was raised when we passed 26 (the score we had dismissed them for earlier in the season) but we were 40 for 6 when the 20 overs began.

Richard Millett's concentration was disturbed by the break and he was out straight afterwards. John Harris survived at couple of overs and James Gleadow about 7 overs but Tony and I were left with 10 overs to see out. Tony had no problem from his side but unfortunately he was unable to retain the strike for the last over and I was out with 3 balls to go.

Bourne End 207-2 dec, 41 overs ( Sheldon 1-24 (7 overs), Millett 1-48 (7 overs))

OCCC 77 all out, 34.3 overs (Hillman 27)

Result: OCCC lost by 130 runs
