Russell Jones takes over the reins as JCC President

10 July 2021

On the evening of 6th July, the John Carpenter Club held its delayed annual dinner at the Bakers' Hall in the City of London, where the presidential reins were handed over to Russell Jones (pictured above right). Despite the continuing exigencies of the pandemic, and inclement weather on the night, there were 23 attendees, and a great sense of relief that after some 18 months, the membership could finally come together to enjoy some excellent fare and each other's company.

Sincere thanks were expressed to outgoing President Richard Oblath (above left) for his diligence and considerable achievements during what has been an extraordinarily challenging and difficult period, not just for the club, but for us all. In his speech, new president Russell Jones also outlined the vision for his presidency, including the implementation of the club's new four pillar strategic plan for the future, and his intention to encourage something of a generational change among the club's leadership and officials.

A special thank you must go to Alan Willis for arranging such a successful and enjoyable evening in testing circumstances.
