Oli Fincham and Ben Nachoom Climb Kilimanjaro 2011

A little about us

Ben Nachoom and Oli Fincham in their skydiving days. For those of you who don’t know or remember us, both Oli and I were at CLS until 2010. Oli from 2002 and I from 2005. We are now both university students, Oli’s at Birmingham and I’m at Bristol.

It was about half a year ago, on a cold winter morning when, bored of just getting on with our university work, we decided that we needed another challenge. A couple of years ago, we jumped out of a plane at 15,000 feet, and raised nearly £5,000 for charity. This time though, we had our sights on something bigger. Much Bigger.

Having heard amazing stories from a friend who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in the summer, I quickly rang up Oli, instantly knowing he’d be up for it. Obviously, he was. We’re not going to do Kilimanjaro like any old person though, we’re doing it in fancy dress, for that extra fun factor. I’m heading up dressed as a Zebra, and Oli has been shafted with a Meerkat costume. He looks ridiculous in it!

It's all for the School Charity, and you can add your support via our JustGiving page

It is not difficult to feel rather gloomy about the future but I do feel that this gloom can act in the way of a self fulfilling prophecy. Certainly, all my gloom was dispersed by a recent visit to CLS Girls School to see a joint production with CLS of the musical “Grease”.

As the New Year begins, the final arrangements are being made for this year's JCC Annual Dinner on 14 February 2012. There are still places available, so book your places as soon as possible! This year's event takes place in the School's anniversary year and, as such, is being held in the Great Hall of the current school. We have a fantastic speaker lined up - Lord Janvrin, former Private Secretary to Her Majesty the Queen.
